About Anthony W. Deering
Anthony W. Deering has served as Chairman of Exeter Capital, LLC, a private investment firm, since 2004. He previously served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer (from 1997-2004) of The Rouse Company, a large New York Stock Exchange national real estate company. With The Rouse Company since 1972, he was previously Vice President/Treasurer, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and President/Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Deering was born in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in 1945. He received his primary and secondary education in New Jersey, graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969, and received an MBA degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1971. He also holds an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Johns Hopkins University, 2015.
Mr. Deering serves as a Director of Under Armour and Brixmor Property Group, and also is the Lead Independent Director of the T. Rowe Price mutual funds. Mr. Deering is a member of the Deutsche Bank Americas Advisory Board. Over the years, he has served as a Director of Mercantile Bank, Alex Brown Realty, Vornado Realty Trust and Kleinwort Benson, NA.
His community involvement has included serving as Chairman of the Mayor’s Business Advisory Council, Chairman of the Board of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Greater Baltimore Committee, Board Member of The Independent Director Council, and a Trustee of a number of institutions, such as Friends School of Baltimore. The Peabody Conservatory, East Baltimore Development Corporation and the Parks and People Foundation. Currently, he is a Trustee of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and serves as Chairman of both The Rouse Company Foundation and The Charlesmead Foundation.
He lives in Florida with his wife, the former Kathryn Regan, and has three children, Heather, Spencer and Maron.
